Occupational Therapy
Using interviews, observations, and screenings a specific individualized plan is developed based on your child’s developmental age and needs.
Using a variety of strategies, treatment can focus on a combination of concerns including:
self-regulation
sensory processing
visual attention
focus
whole body and fine motor control
visual perception
visual motor skills
executive functioning, and/or handwriting.
The goal of treatment is to make sure your child is ready to engage and learn through sensory and play based strategies such as deep breathing, yoga, mindfulness, progressive relaxation, and environmental adaptations. Once your child is alert and focused, they are ready to learn more specific skills. This might involve movement activities, games, play, and/or direct skill training. Ultimately, treatment will be developed so that your child can function effectively at home, in school, and in the community.
