Speech and Language
Depending on the needs of your child, a speech and language pathologist can provide goal directed therapy sessions to improve skills in the areas of:
receptive and expressive language
language processing
speech articulation
pragmatic language
social communication skills.
The goal of speech and language therapy is to help your child become a more confident and effective communicator at home, in school and in the community.
The therapy activities might include playing word games to learn new vocabulary and expand the length of sentences, listening to and imitating the therapist’s speech models to improve articulation, gaining practice in listening skills in order to follow directions and answer questions accurately, and learning how to use verbal language skills to be successful in social interactions.
